A State-of-the-Art Review and Numerical Study of Reinforced Expansive Soil with Granular Anchor Piles and Helical Piles

Expansive soils exist in many countries worldwide, and their characteristics make them exceedingly difficult to engineer. Due its significant swelling shrinkage characteristics, expansive soil defies of the stabilization solutions available engineers. Differential heave or settlement occurs when swells shrinks, causing severe damage foundations, buildings, roadways, retaining structures. In such soils, it is necessary construct a foundation that avoids adverse effects settlement. As result, building structure’s foundations on necessitates special consideration.
